SKIAREÁL Spindleruv Mlyn
The Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort is the top winter recreational centre in the Czech Republic and each year is the co-organizer of several important sports events. Comprised of several ski centres (St. Peter - Hromovka, Medvědín, Horní Mísečky, Labská, and the Horal, Davidovka, and Krakonoš Lifts) the resort area attracts around 700,000 visitors each winter season.
The Špindlerův Mlýn Ski Resort operates 5 cableways and 11 ski lifts in Špindlerův Mlýn and Horní Mísečky, and offers a total of 26 km of downhill slopes, 95% of which is covered by snow-making equipment. Ski passes purchased at any ticket window can be used on all cableways and ski lifts (lower regional fares can be used at Labská, Horni Mísečky, Davidovka, and Horal).
St. Peter is the most important centre for sports events in Špindlerův Mlýn. Each year it is the site of numerous significant sporting events, the most important of which this year will be the European Cup in Acrobatic Jumping to be held March 18 - 23.
A total of 3 cableways and 5 ski lifts are in operation at the centre in the winter season. With respect to length, vertical drop, and grooming conditions the downhill slopes are the best in the entire country. A snow park featuring a U-ramp is also heavily visited. A unified ski pass can be used throughout the Špindlerův Mlýn Resort (5 cableways and 11 ski lifts). St. Petr is connected to the Medvědín Ski Centre by a regular SKI BUS line. Visitors to the Špindlerův Mlýn Resort will find numerous restaurants, ski and snowboard schools, evening entertainment possibilities such as swimming pools, bowling alleys, sled runs, discotheques, and last but not least, daily nighttime skiing on the well-lit Hromovka slope offering a new (2005) fast four-seat chairlift.
The Medvědín Ski Centre, which is connected to the Horni Mísečky Ski Centre by cableway, is an increasingly popular site for skiers who enjoy comfortable runs on sunny slopes. The centre features an excellent black slope and red slope, which are intended mainly for advanced skiers. For beginners and families with children we recommend the Horni Mísečky Ski Centre, which offers four ski lifts, well-groomed slopes, and a snow park with a lift intended specifically for snowboarders.
Horni Mísečky likewise offers cross-country skiers fine trails that are groomed daily and can be used to connect to ridge trails.
The new Labská Ski Centre was built last season at the site of the former Labská ski lift. The new chairlift is 300 m longer than the original and now runs all the way to the cross-country trail at Horni Mísečky. The downhill slope was likewise extended and widened. Complete snow-making equipment was also installed at Labská for the 2006/2007 season.
